You Can Take A Girl Out of the City

But according to my husband you can't take the city out of the girl. I dare say he is wrong. When a girl starts to consider field corn as an ornamental grass in her flower beds I would say she has crossed the line into dirt-loving, manure scooping, egg collecting heaven and has left the city behind.

Sniff, sniff.

The real question is: did you plant it there?

Or was it voluntary corn? (One of the first farmy terms I learned was "voluntary corn" so I enjoy using it when I can.)

No, it was planted on purpose by Gibby, my little farmer. I am the one that let it continue to grow there and not classify it as a weed.

One of the first farmy terms I learned was drought and it has come in handy the past 12 years.
